Ours was installed behind the aft berth in the compartment where the batteries are located. I don't recall the size, but it's a lot larger than a porta-potti.
Steve, my holding tank from the factory is 17 gallons and is located behind the aft-berth bulkhead port side. All the plumbing runs along the port side in the small race-way. If you would like to see some pictures let me know.
Frog, would love to see the pics, might make my installation easier. I'm wondering if I can get a 17 gallon tank thru that small opening in that bulkhead. I may have to settle for a smaller tank.
Steve, first you don't put the tank through the battery check opening. You remove the bulkhead completely by removing the port side panel in the aft-berth, then remove the screws from the rear bulkhead and remove it. You will find there is tons of room behind it. I don't have a picture of the head itself, but it occupies the same space that the porta-pottie does. If you need more detail let me know and I will get more pictures.
The wet locker behind the head. The tubes that go up are the vacuum loop. The others go through the locker along the port raceway to the rear of the boat.
The tank front showing the hoses that come along the raceway out to the tank. The tank itself.
Frog, thanks, that's what I need. Looks easy enough. Don't need a pic of the head itself, I have the head already. I just need to get back there, measure for the tank and find a way to support and brace it.
I have not measured the tank, but the manual that came with my marine head says it is 17 gallons. Next time I take the rear bulkhead out I will try and remember to measure it. Don't hold your breath though, us older folks do have some memory loss at times.
Joe, I'm working this weekend but plan to get down there next week and launch. Will you be around? I'm sure I'll need some advice on raising the mast for the first time.
Steve: Plans are now for us to be down that way next Saturday and Sun. and will be glad to help launch and raise mast. Email me a time. I think Earl is relaunching then too as he's back in service. Sorry you'll miss todays race. Will email you if things change. Joe
