I know there are some talented word-smiths out there. Just for fun, caption the photo below.

From memory there was no actual contact, but a whole lot of raised voices!

Depends on where it is on the course, I would caption it any number of ways

"Starboard"

"lets lee bow those bastards"

"Mark Room"

Barging

or PROTEST

or Red Flag

Or Penalty Turns a comin'

Depending on location, type of course and timing - 334 might actually be in the right!

How about: "Hey crew! Take a look around the jib and tell me if there are any other boats nearby!"

[Timing is everything, but at the instant the photo was taken, it doesn't look like 334 has right of way, because he's the one boat that really isn't on starboard tack. His jib is clearly backwinded, which means he has come about past head-to-wind. Once he does that, he is no longer on starboard tack. You can't claim starboard tacker's rights if the wind is crossing the port side of the boat first. So far as I know, the only exception to that is when sailing downwind and by the lee. Then, your tack is determined by the position of the boom.]

It would appear that 369 and 125 are both on starboard, but 125 is the leeward boat and therefore has R-O-W. 334 is in deep doo-doo..if as Steve says she has come past head-to-wind, or maybe she is being blanketed by the other boats, in which case she has R-O-W and the other 2 are screwed!
I'd love to know how all 3 escaped without damage.

Huh? Where did you get those numbers, Derek? The only one that matches the photo is #334 ... did you put some Irish Mist in your coffee this morning?

Have just written memo to self: "do not post to forum when not wearing glasses"
Numbers should be 379 (not 369) and 165 (not 125). At least I got 334
correct - shucks, bat .334 in the majors and they will pay you millions...
