It appears to be a device used to tuck in the flap on a batten pocket.
On my main, the lower three batten pockets have a flap that is tucked into the pocket to secure the batten. On this flap is a small pocket which allows me to insert a spare batten to aid in tucking it in.
That is exactly what it is - the gizmo to tuck in the batten flap. It will also help you get the battens out at the end of the season by separating the hook from the loop on the velcro.
The batten pocket on the sail is lined with velco "hook". One side of the flap has velcro "loop". The flap has a pocket at the end that you insert the tool into, then you push the flap into the pocket on sail to secure the batten.
Let us know how you get on with the EP main. Jalapeno bought one last year. We love it!
I also have one, Its the main sail on the Yahoo site. Great sail I will buy another from EP. I didn't get one of these with my sail and it took me forever to figure how to get the batten into the pocket the right way. I have one now. You will love the sail, did you put any reef points in the sail? I don't have any in mine and need to send it in for an update.
No reef points,I just roll in the genny when it picks up. I've got the old main on the way back after having it repaired and the batten pockets modified. Kept shooting the battens out the front like torpedoes!
