shnool	Posted - 12/30/2022 : 18:14:17 Like suggested in the title. Check in with your hull number and where you are. I realize its unscientific, but I'd love to see the active forum members post their hull numbers and where they sail out of. sailboat data has the max hull number for the Catalina 25 (not 250) as 5866, but here I see hull numbers into the 6000s in the database (some fo these hull numbers are just plain wrong above that - ie 7080 for a 1980 yeah and nope someone read their hull ID wrong). A friend just got 1989 hull number 5853, and he and I have been going back and forth about how many they actually made. He even called FL to talk to catalina and got frankly a poor answer, that the hull number is not reflective of the actual number of boats made. All I can say is, SINCE WHEN? Every other manufacturer does it that way, and I know other models from Catalina do. So I feel like he was given bad advice. Either way I am excited to see a friend getting into a newer model Catalina 25, a fixed keel tall rig model no less. He likes to race and I look forward to see how he does with the boat. I raced against a well sailed Catalina fixed keel standard rig before and frankly I was amazed at how well it did, the tall rig must be all that and better in light air. I have sent him links to this site, and hope you guys see him posting here soon. He's a great sailor, and I hope he can get lots of great tips from you guys to sail the bottom of his new pride and joy.

shnool	Posted - 01/08/2023 : 18:19:25 I will encourage the new owner to join here. Love to see the hull numbers as they appear. I know sailboatdata likely has an older database, and expect it to be off by a bit, but thousands? We're a light wind lake where I am, which is Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. Although this last year, Spring and Fall we had great winds, averaging about 15 knots all season.

Since #5032 (once mine) is an '85, I suspect yours is too. The model year is the last two digits of the hull identification number on your registration and stamped under the rub-rail on the starboard side of the transom.

I�m the very happy owner of hull #5040 which I believe to be a 1986, though there is scant documentation indeed from the PO and none passed along from earlier owners. I�m sailing out of Michigan City Indiana on the very southern end of Lake Michigan. I�m very excited for the coming season because it develops that maybe seven or eight members of Catalina Fleet 21 based in Chicago are also pier-mates, so I will have some opportunities for collegiality and socializing.
Steve Milby	Posted - 12/31/2022 : 12:07:59 I have also noticed the discrepancies in the hull numbers and can't account for it. It's possible that some C27 owners might have misunderstood the limited purpose of our database and listed their boats by mistake. It's also possible that some C25 owners might have mis-remembered their hull number when they listed it on the database. Some of the listings are clearly the product of some kind of mistake. If your friend sails on SF bay or a place where strong winds are typical, he'll probably find the TR/FK tender, but most of us, by far, sail where light to moderate winds predominate, with occasional strong winds, and, if he sails in that venue, he'll love the boat. C25s were numbered beginning with hull #1, which is named "Confetti," is still meticulously maintained, and belongs to Chuck Shaw, who occasionally stops by this forum. This is Confetti under spinnaker on Galveston Bay.
Voyager	Posted - 12/31/2022 : 11:38:39 Hello John, After looking over the C25 boats that are registered on the �Boat Search� tool listed on the left side of this page, I�m willing to posit that the Sailboat Data website just got it plain old wrong. There are a lot of boats with hull numbers greater than 5866 that are real boats with owners who have written on this forum. Maybe if there were only a few, but there are simply too many boats with higher numbers listed for them to be mistaken.
