Logged on several times today in effort to upload a few images to the forum's "Photo Gallery". FYI...I just moved and am using my phone as a hotspot as I don't yet have dedicated Internet. Several times the system froze and when I clicked the help button, a page popped up saying I did not have permission to avert forum security. Eventually I uploaded five images or so I thought but they are not visible in the Gallery.
User error or software error....just a heads up. I know Paul (Alcock?) put a lot of time into this but that was some time ago. Operating system updates since may have compromised the original code.

Thank you Russ! Any small change in a system like this (migration to secure ops) can have unpredictable results. Very glad you were able to find the root cause of the problem. Funny enough, chrome’s security profile looks a little suspect, since the other browsers rightly rejected the insecure data.

To All,

The problem where photos were not displaying in forum posts has been fixed.
Here was the condition.
A photo was posted in the Members Area.
The photo link was included in a forum post.
Note: The photo would display correctly in Chrome, but not in other browsers.

All forum active topics and archived topics with photos from the Members Area have been fixed.

Gerry,

I found the source of the problem and I have a temporary solution.
Remember the post from Weds (Sep-15)?

B) The home page has been upgraded to use an SSL certificate.
You will notice the URL has changed.
Old: http://www.catalina-capri-25s.org
New: https://www.catalina-capri-25s.org

Well, that introduced a new security feature (one that I should have done awhile ago).
In the forum, photos use a link (img photo_link /img).
The photo links use the old format (http://www)
The security requires the new format (https://www)

I updated your link with the new format to get it working.
It's odd that Chrome allows the old format, but Safari and Firefox does not.
I'm working on having the old/new format converted automatically.

Thanks, Russ

Gerry,

I'm working on this new problem.
Your photo displays correctly on my laptop, but not on my phone.
When I switched browsers on my laptop I was able to replicate the problem.
The photo is correct on Chrome, but not on Safari or Firefox.

I need to look at the photo software to see if I used the wrong command.
Don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong.
Safari just thinks you're a pirate

Hmmm Gerry,. I thought that it was pretty cool! I didn’t notice that pic up in the gallery.

Thanks Russ….have not had the chance to check out the site as yet but am wondering how and why my signature photo got replaced by a skull and crossbones?

Gerry and Scott,

Thank you for your message.
I confirmed the Members Area has errors when uploading or editing photos.
I contacted the website hosting company today and they are working on the problem.
Yes, there was a software upgrade and not all the files were migrated.
I'm in the process of re-installing some software versions that are used by the website photo application.
We will see if that resolved this problem.

Thanks, Russ Johnson

I always get a red triangle with an exclamation point in it on the left of the URL.. It says the web site is not secure if that means something.
