Can someone provide insight...

We seem now to have problems transferring photos from Shutterfly to our Association Forum

To transfer an image from Shutterfly to this site: click, drag from Shutterfly and drop it between "insert image", only shows the following...

However now to transfer a photo from Shutterfly to this site: click, drag and drop the image from Shutterfly to our forum without using "image insert", the following shows up

Henk,

I did some testing, but no luck.

Created a Shutterfly account.
Uploaded a test photo.
Double-clicked on the photo to view the properties.
At the bottom of the page, Shutterfly has a "Share" button.

On the Share Photo page:
Select "Create Link"
I shorter link displays, but the photo does not render.

Thanks Bruce and Scott for suggesting Flickr which seems easy to use for posting photos to our forum

Russ suggested, as an option, to post images using our photo gallery. But... it seems that I get lost with all the steps before I even can find the right image to post. Not complaining though and grateful for the time Paul (Britinusa) and others spent around 2013.

However... is it now a good time to take a look by some fresh young tech people to provide, incorporate an up-to-date industry wide synchronized approach

I really regret the use and loss of my substantial 15 year photo inventory at Shutterfly

I just did this on your photo.

I use Flickr for storing photos but I right click on the photo I want and a box opens with some choices. I copy(left click) on 'Copy image address' then go back to the forum and 'Paste' it between the img. brackets. This is on a Windows computer but a Mac should work somewhat the same, I think.

Thank you for your help David and Bruce

Its ever so frustrating not to be able to post photos, as I did for years, in one step from Shutterfly to our forum.

Using our Photo Gallery, I finally succeeded, is an alternative but seems a long way around to post a few photos

How or what do others do/use to simplify the posting process?

Here’s a test using the URL above

I get the same thing, a little faintly outlined square, not a picture.

As I recall the [ img] === [ /img] command sequence needs as its argument (the === stuff) a URL that ends with the file name extension “.jpg”. Without that file name extension ending, the img command doesn’t know what to do with the information.

Is there any way to force Shutterfly to produce a .jpg URL filename that you can insert into the Forum code?

If not then your best bet is to use Russ’ technique of capturing the photo from Shutterfly, copying it to the Forum photo gallery, then posting it to your comments.

Russ thanks for your help but...I still do not seem to be able to post a photo

Here is what I did in the past

I use a Macbook Pro
I open and sign into my account at Shutterfly and select one of my albums
Then I search for a photo I want to use and click on it

Next, I open a NEW WINDOW and sign onto our Catalina Association Website and open to right topic (using Firefox web browser both Catalina and Shutterfly windows are side by side open)

Then if and when I want to post the photo I select from the menu "insert image"

Now I go back to the open Shutterfly website and select the photo I wish to use. I double click on it, drag and take the photo over to Catalina's website and drop it in between the brackets "insert Image".

When I preview the photo only the following shows

Repeating the same procedure I go back to the Shutterfly site to copy a photo, I click, hold and drag and maneuver the curser and drop the photo OUTSIDE the "insert image", brackets and this time just the address shows up.

By clicking on the above the right photo will now appear but only the address, not the photo, will stay in the text

It seems that something is not working on our forum side of things but... I possess little computer expertise

In the past I've done the click, hold, drag and drop on my computer successfully for a long time.

What do I do wrong?

Hi Henk,
Let me try

I’m sorry, I could not get the Shutterfly link to work.
I was able to copy the photo to the gallery, then post the link below
