After four happy seasons of ownership and upgrades, I have come to the conclusion that my sailing goals will be better served by a boat I can trailer effectively with the family car, so I am offering Puffin III for sale.

She’s a 1986 fin keel/standard rig Catalina 25 with the traditional layout interior, sail number 5040. She has a pop-top and pop-top cover. Located in St. Joseph, Michigan, she has a cradle at Anchors Way Marina - no trailer.

Puffin III has been actively sailed since 2021 and is ready to go back in the water as soon as that water is soft enough to move through again this Spring.

- New bottom paint last season
- New Foss Foam balanced rudder, added 2022. Original rudder also comes with the boat if you prefer.
- Older but serviceable sails - 2+2 batten main and 130 genoa on CDI roller furler
- Standing rigging professionally inspected in 2022, no issues found
- Honda 9.9HP outboard on Catalina Direct four-spring bracket. Motor does not feature electric start but starts on first or second pull, maintained by Anchors Way staff and stored indoors each winter.
- 30A shore power, 2x80AH 12V house bank with new 12V service panel installed 2023
- Electric bilge pump wired to battery bank and 3-way switch on galley bulkhead installed 2023
- Raymarine ST1000 tiller pilot added 2022
- Marine head is a Raritan PHIII, installed 2021
- Datamarine knot meter/log and depth meter and Ritchie compass, all in working order.
- Cabin-mounted VHF with masthead antenna in working order
- Original cabin lights in working order, additional 12V socket and RGB LED cabin lighting (for dance parties)
- All cushions are clean and in good repair, and have custom-cut anti-condensation pad underneath, added 2021. This is not a musty boat.
- Origo 3000 2-burner alcohol stove - the newer stable kind of alcohol stove, not the old pressurized curtain-scorcher - with gimbal mounts (gimbal installation not completed so you can take or leave this without having mounting holes in the oven bay).
- Running rigging refreshed 2022
- Lewmar 16ST self-tailing genoa winches, serviced 2022
- All lines led to cockpit, single-line slab reefing and main halyard to cabintop clutch on starboard side
- PFDs, Danforth anchor and rode, fenders, fire extinguisher, throwable PFD, spares for marine head, flares, air horn and whistle, dock lines, shore power cable all included
- Indiana registration valid through June 21, 2025.

Asking $6,000. Puffin III has been an excellent starter boat and classroom for me, singlehanding her from St. Joseph to Michigan City and back each season has been a joy. I have listed her with my local Catalina fleet organization and now here - eventually I will have to post more broadly, but I would prefer her to find a home with folks who will keep her in fighting trim and see her on the water frequently. Photos attached. Note that the pop-top cover fits much better than pictured, that is the only photo I have of it even just laid in place.
