This is an International Celebration of Sailing. Check the site and see what is happening in your area, or join for prizes, and make your own plans to sail on the 20th of June.
Posted - 06/21/2022 : 15:59:31 Looks like you got the pick of the week. Rain and showers for the rest until Friday when the sun and the heat comes back. Nice summer weekend coming up on LI Sound.

Posted - 06/20/2022 : 12:13:55 We had the most unusual weather on Saturday. Friday was 89° and breezy, but come Saturday morning the temperatures were around 65°. As the day wore on it got cloudier and the temps plummeted into the mid-50°s with winds in the 20-30 mph range. By nightfall it was raining. Sunday was sunnier but winds were too strong for sailing. There’s always next year!

Posted - 06/20/2022 : 00:56:28 It was a beautiful day for sailing on Lake Murray in South Carolina. Blue sky, sunshine and gentle wind. I won a prize last year (SpinSheet for a year) and I am hoping for a prize this year. Best to all who sail. Sam

Posted - 06/18/2022 : 07:42:07 Hey all - It’s summer Sailstice day again! Anybody going out for a sail and rafting up for lunch or racing among friends today? We have some cool breezy weather on Long Island Sound (15-25s!!!), but fine for a harbor cruise or dropping anchor behind the island. Happy Father’s Day to all tomorrow, enjoy

Posted - 06/04/2020 : 20:23:35 Updating my Milford to Northport Harbor SAILSTICE trip on June 20-21, we’ve registered three boats.
A buddy will be sailing his Wharram 23 catamaran from Clinton Harbor the weekend before to Milford. At 31 nm doing about 8 kts, he expects to make it in about 4 hours. It usually takes me all day long to sail that distance in vessel Passage.
Another friend is located in Huntington LI NY and has a mooring next door in Lloyd’s Harbor. There is a large anchorage adjacent to the mooring field.
He plans to sail out toward Stratford Shoal, aka Middle Ground, to meet up with us in progress. At 25 miles from Milford, I expect to make Eatons Point by 3:00 or 4:00 pm.
I’ll install the grill and prepare the steaks for dinner. The others are responsible for potato salad and tossed salad or cole slaw. I plan on suspending my diet for this event.
If anybody nearby would like to join, we’re accepting all comers. You can join us from any point in Long Island Sound, and just meet up in Lloyd’s Harbor.
The only rules are face masks at all times or social distancing while eating. There should be plenty of adult beverages and snacks.

Posted - 05/18/2020 : 20:05:49 We will be sailing our c36mkii around Bainbridge and Vashon Islands. I saw someone else on the website was doing that and it seemed fun. :)

Posted - 05/16/2020 : 02:21:21 As long as we get to sail.... And with the "more working from home" with their own computers (BYOD) There will be more security coming due to all the hacks and malware on none hardened computers So definitely ironic, but more to come. Best

Posted - 05/15/2020 : 15:49:57 I'm trying to join the Sailstice site. Of course, I have to go through the reCaptcha test. Does anyone else find it ironic that I have to prove to a robot that I'm not a robot ?

Posted - 04/19/2020 : 15:50:40 Here’s my plan for Sailstice around Western Long Island Sound Friday-Saturday-Sunday June 19-21 While I’m starting out in Milford waters, I’ll be sailing west through the dead center of the Sound most of Saturday and arriving at Eatons Point late Saturday afternoon. Provided there’s a safe and legal anchorage somewhere in Northport Bay, staying overnight and returning back to Milford on Sunday. It’s about 25 no each way.
Could also switch to Norwalk Islands if no anchorage is available in L.I.
Posted - 03/06/2020 : 04:30:40 Great!! All who register on the site please post your plans here so others can see what you are doing and maybe join in your fun!

Posted - 03/05/2020 : 20:24:07 Russ and Sam, Thanks for posting about the Summer Sailstice movement. I’ve been on the mailing list for a decade and have planned and executed 2 over that time. Among the members and guests here on this forum there are natural groups of boaters on local bodies of water such as Lake Erie, Tahoe, Chesapeake Bay, NJ Bays, Narragansett Bay, Dallas Area lakes and in my area Long Island Sound. If folks are willing it might make sense to organize Sailstice trips to nearby destinations. For me, I’d be willing to organize Mattituck, Port Jefferson or Northport Harbor in Long Island, or New Haven, Norwalk or Mystic Harbor in CT.

Posted - 03/05/2020 : 18:10:16 Sam,
Good idea. I'll bring up this event with my sailing club. We could have a Catalina "meet up" on our lake.
Kelseyville, CA (on Clear Lake) Anyone interested in coming to my event, or setting up an event of you own?
