Hope someone can help. Hubby and I have a 25' with swing keal. We have been taking on water, approx. 10 gal. in one week. We have hauled out and found the plate holding the bolt for keal leaking. Someone told rusty (hubby)to drop keal to make sure there is not a crack in housing of keal, which he is doing now. He would like to see a diagram of our boat if available. This is our first boat, we have had it a little over a year and LOVE sailing. We are already looking for something bigger. Oh by the way it is a 1988 model. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi Nana,

Click on the "Manuals & Brochures" link; then on the "Catalina 25 Parts Catalog". Page 13 is the view of the swing keel assembly.

Hi Nana,

Has your swing keel ever dropped suddenly? That is what happens when the cable or cable fitting fails, and the results can be pretty catastrophic. Here is a link to a swing keel trunk repair ... it will show you what to look for, and one way to repair it: Swing keel trunk repair

Also, I noticed y'all live in Rockport. If I'm not mistaken, you've gotten a lot of rain recently. While it might seem far-fetched, these old boats can take on a LOT of water when it rains. Have you ever re-bedded your windows, stanchions, and other deck hardware? If not, you might be seeing a lot of rainwater.

If you're brave enough, you can taste the water in the bilge to see if it is salty or not ... that would help determine if you've got a leak, or if rainwater is making it's way into your bilge.

'Hope that helps ... let us know what you find out ... and welcome to the group!
