I'm interested in building a scale model of my C25. Is there anywhere I can get a copy of the line drawings?

I've searched the tech tips and archives with no luck.

I'd also be interested in talking to anyone who has built models of our boats.

thanks, I have that one. I'm trying to find the line drawings so I can build a hull to scale. There must be a drawing out there somewhere...

I have seen half-hull models of the swing keel version, which may offer some perspective -- but never a half hull for the fin keel or wing keel.

I too wanted to make a scale model and went through some research before I got side tracked on to something else. Still have the digital files but don't know how to share them with this group. When I started a topic on this same subject someone suggested "plotting" the hull shape using a crude x-y-z method (think tape measure, and a couple yard sticks) I think that would work but again... If someone knows how to post several files total less than a 1/2 meg I'd be glad to share.

I'd be a potential customer should you decide to make more than one.

Kim, If the files are less than half a meg, can you email them? I can post them somewhere for the forum to access.
I'll send you a message with my email address.

Kper, let's see what the finished product ends up looking like. Knowing myself, it's quite probably that the "lessons learned" are more valuable the finished product :)

Kim, I don't see a way to contact you on your profile. Can you email me the files you have? My email address is skipper##unsinkable2.com

(replace the ## with the @ symbol)

Unsinkable, I sent 9 files to the e-mail address provided. Did you receive them?

Was visiting my friend who is building a 28' sailboat. I remembered this thread when I saw his scale model of their Catalina 22. Not the greatest quality pix - taken after sunset. Yep, it is set up for RC.

Wow, that is exactly what I would like to build! But of a 25. Does he have a blog on how he did it or any other information?
Very impressive.

No blogs - he is 87. He built this from scratch - same as the 28' boat he is currently building. The next time I see him - I will ask what documentation he has.

For exchanging the files between yourselves, you can certainly email the files around, but if you want to make them accessible to all, you can put them on dropbox and publish the link here on the forum. I send movies of the kids to my inlaws using dropbox.

While we have not yet found a proper ship lines drawing of the Catalina 25 hull, I do have several drawings, photos, etc, as mentioned in the above posts. I've taken everything that has been sent to me (including copies of the above C22 photos from OJ), and posted them in a dropbox. Thanks for the suggestion Bruce!

Here is the link. If anyone does find a ship lines drawing - or has other drawings that may be useful to the cause, send them to me and I'll add them to the dropbox folder.

Not to place a damper on the project - but the builder of the model is now 87. The model was designed and built PI (pre-internet) age.

I will ask what he has and attempt to digitize. I know he will be pleased that someone is inquiring . . .

I've been waiting several years to do a comprehensive photo shoot of the 28' foot sailboat - an amazing accomplishment.
