Greetings all, I purchased this track guide kit from CD, however, after reading the instructions and seeing where the resultant installation would go, I'm guessing something is very wrong or I'm missing an important point.
If I trimmed the 'wire' ends as in the instructions to match the cutout opening in the mast and attached as instructed there would be no-way you would ever get the travelers attached to the main in the slot. Now mind you I'm a very capable mechanic and could easily remove some aluminum making the opening on the mast bigger so that when attaching these guides it would end up with a similar opening as the original mast. However - all that said the instructions say nothing of removing any aluminum or making the opening bigger to accept the sail track guides. The PO had done a real hack of having some pieces of aluminum on both sides of the original mast opening - it was all coming loose so I figured I'd remove it all and get the 'real-deal' only to find out that CD's instructions are sorly lacking for my C25. Anyone else run into this? What was your solution?
Basically what CD gives you is rough piece that has to be trimmed to fit. The mast gates were cut in the mast and are all different sizes for each boat. I guess it depended on who was doing the cutting at Catalina at the time. You are given a piece of stock covers that will fit all the boats . You have to trim them to fit your boat. You can trim the covers and also elongate the opening in the mast if needed. I for instance have only one side cut in the mast and is not very long so I only used one gate and had to cut the cover way down and drill one hole for the screw. The wire ends can be cut off.

I'm a little confused, The slugs should always be attached to the sail. You remove the covers, slide the slugs into the mast slot then put the covers back on. Now the slugs are captive in the mast and can slide fully down to the boom and won't fall out. You only do this twice a year, Once in the beginning of the season to put the sail on and once at the end of the season to take the sail off.
