My barbecue is causing me too much frustration. Time for a new one.

Any suggestions? My current BBQ is small (15 inches?), round, and mounts with a single attachment to the stern pulpit. I'm thinking I'll do the same thing. I will likely use it for simple grill tasks like steaks and burgers.

The original Magma Kettle grill looks perfectly reasonable:

I'm not convinced I need a bigger size (The "party size" is 18 inches), or the upgraded Kettle 2 model that claims to work as an oven and a stove as well as a grill (It's a floor wax AND a delicious desert topping).

I also think there is a certain logic to a round grill. The gas comes out of one point in the center and should heat evenly. The square models also add an unnecessary complication of a second mount.

Anyone have any thoughts on BBQs?

Any comments on mounts? My current mount extends off the boat a foot and then up about a foot. This works well. It's nice having the great fall in the water and not on the boat. The magma mount only juts out and does not raise the BBQ. Will I miss this?

Thanks all.

I want davits off the back holding a 55 gallon drum smoker... Run the chicken flag up the mast and call it Yardbirds... Sell half a chicken for $15.00

or at lease a swinging davit with a grill and a pulley to dunk the whole grill in the water to kill the fire and clean it ..

Something to fit into a rocket launcher ( pole holder ) and store in the dumpster... How to store it so it doesn't rattle?

Or maybe something that sits on the solar panel off the back?

Don't think I haven't been lookin at those designs...

We have the Magma Party Size mounted on the starboard stern rail, and have been very happy with it.

You can affect some vertical adjustment because the bracket at the base of the grill tilts. You can rotate the clamps on the rail to raise or lower the grill and then adjust the tilt to keep the grill level.

Also, you can hook the center of the inside of the cover against any point on the perimeter of the grill so that the cover blocks the wind from blowing on the flame while you adjust your food. Other marine grills may have this feature too - I don't know.

In a pinch you could always remove the lid and use it as a dinghy!
