I found a c22 rudder for a very good price. My c-25 rudder has the common cracking going on. Will a c22 rudder work on a c-25 maybe with some hardware changes or repositioning?
I will swing by the marina tonight after work and check. Since I own both a Catalina 25 and a Catalina 22, I will check to see how they size up. I think Akenumber is correct in that they probably won't match up - "pintle-wise" and the length of the rudder might not be adequate for the C-25. Neither of my C-25's have a swing up rudder so I would be comparing a fixed C-25 rudder with a swing-up C-22 rudder.
The standard C-25 rudder has a length of 76", compared to 59.75" for the C-22 rudder. Chord and thickness are the same, 12" and 1.5", respectively. The blue water C-25 rudder is beefier, with a length of 82" and chord of 15.5". The pintles on the new rudders are the same diameter at 1/2". However, older C-22 rudders had smaller 3/8" diameter pintles. A C-22 rudder will not be big enough for the C-25.
