Okay, I did it, I purchased a 2002 C250 WB. Now I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. I only have one for now. It's obvious that it leaks when it rains where the motor cable enters the battery compartment. The PO put lots of silicone around it and it didn't work. I've looked around for a replacement but can't find one. Does anyone know where I can get one? Sorry, I can't figure out how to post a picture on this site yet.

Mine enters on the stern and is protected by a cowling. Does your boat not have one. You could easily enough put one on.

I used a cable clam anywhere I needed to penetrate the hull for wires: Cable Clam

I have one for my outboard battery connection, one for my VHF antenna, and one for my lights. All of those leaked when I got my boat, now none of them do. They're made in various sizes, so you just size them to your need. I had to do some custom drilling on my outboard engine's cable clam because the cable's cross section is a figure 8. I put the rubber puck in the freezer for a couple of hours, then carefully drilled it on my drill press to make the figure 8 holes. Worked like a charm.

Both are fantastic ideas! I was looking for a direct replacement but the cable clam looks perfect. It would also prevent wasps from getting in and making nests.

To make my motor easily removable for maintenance I used a trolling motor plug to hook the motor to the battery.

FWIW, I have the one pictured in letter A. It is not located on the tronsom - it's on the starboard cowling to the right of the outboard. When I got the boat, the alternator cable was the only thing that went through it. Since then, I added an extension wire for a RAM3 mic and a 12v at the end of a pigtail. The nice thing about that cowling is that you can add more wires without making another hole.

It's not sealed with anything, but I have not noticed any leakage. Maybe I'll add some butyl tape around the top part to make sure I have a good seal.
