Last year I added blocks to my first reef to reduce friction. Under the advice of some here, I used two of the Ronstan RF30100A blocks:

I want to rig a second reef for this season, and with Defender having a site-wide sale I went looking for two more of these. However, they have been discontinued and replaced by a modified version with sheave becket, the RF35100 (size difference presumably due to different magnification):

Have any of you seen or used this new version of the block? Does everything fit right? It looks like the shackle may be made out of heavier gauge metal (round stock instead of the flat stock on the old one). IIRC it was a very tight fit getting the old shackle through the reef cringle and around the ring on the other side:

...so I'm concerned that when I get these they might not fit around the rings.
What do you guys think? Are there other brands of blocks out there that will fit as well as the old ones? Good sources for the close-outs?
