Hi folks,

Just recvd my replacement rudder for my '82 Catalina 25 from Idasailor thru CT Direct. It is considerably taller than old rudderand when I mounted it to the boat which is on jackstands
it seems to be almost or as long as the fixed fin keel.
Is this normal? Will it cause a problem? Is this nor,mal for the balanced keel? Factory said it should be 76" tall. Is that too tal for Catalina 25?
Thanks Scott - Great Escape

Scott

From another thread concerning the IdaSailor rudder...

<i>"I bought the IdaSailor rudder last summer, too, after my original one snapped off. I thought I was happy with it last fall and early spring when conditions were VERY light. However, with bigger breeze this spring, and the fact that I race and carry more sail than if I was cruising, I found that the IdaSailor did not work well for me."

"I kept rounding up both downwind under spinnaker and upwind with the 135 and full main in about 20 knots of breeze. I sold the IdaSailor on this site this spring, with the caveat that I felt it was best in light conditions or for those who reef or shorten sail early."</i> - Gary B.
