Hello Again Everyone,

While checking in on the C25 FB site, I came across a new posting about a fellow C25 owner who just installed new faux teak & holly cabin sole. I have always been a huge fan of the look of a teak & holly cabin sole and looked into it for my boat. While I did find About 3 manufacturers of the desired product, I only contacted Nuteak and they wanted $2000 for a pro install. They as well as others would of coarse sell you the material for a DIY install for far less, but you were still looking at hundreds of dollars.
Thankfully, our fellow owner on FB was very forthcoming about his cost and where he got the materials. Surprisingly enough, the material is available from Walmart Online. 2 roles @ 35"x91"x6mm with self adhesive backing. Closest teak & holly look is a brownish teak looking grain with white seam lines. Close enough for me. Best of all is the price @ $106 for 2 roles & free S/H to your door. There's my next summer's project. Bladeswell

Did you order yet? How's the quality? I ordered some SeaDek for my Capri 25 on Amazon, really liked the quality, but it wasn't a teak and holly look and a little more $$$.

Not bashing or anything, but if you read that whole Facebook thread, another member writes he didn�t have good luck with a similar product due to the adhesive not bonding and the foam holding moisture.

Looking forward to a report when new and at the 3 to 4 year time in the future.

And you aren't bashing. You're just helping us all stay informed. Good eye. I didn't catch that. But somewhere I saw that it can be expected to last about 4 years. And if that's the case, I won't mind replacing it every 4 years @ $106 bucks. It should be a bit easier the second time around because you should be able to use the old as the new template. At least we hope so. I'm not overly concerned about the bonding issue. If there is a problem, I feel pretty confident that I will be able to find a bonding solution that will work. I won't be doing this until this coming spring/summer. But I will take pics along the way and keep everyone informed.

after one season mine does not look very good, and ill be pulling it out. The bad:
1) expands a lot with the weather. installed it with the temp in the 70s. by summer it buckled and lifted off the floor. The glue is not very good.
2) most of us have the two level sole. This requires a cut right down the middle. that edge will get torn up quickly.
3) any grit on your feet will get ground into it . It's much harder to clean than the bare fiberglass.
4) water stains it.

The good:

1) It does look good when you first put it down.
2) install was easy
3) the foam feels really good on bare feet.

I dont know if ill do the teak cabin sole again. If I do, it will be with plasteak or something similar.

I think this stuff looks great in pictures and could be used for a photo shoot when selling the boat, it makes the boat look luxurious.

But I think it's not really workable for a boat and won't last.

Plus Catalina 25's are so small that adding any dark to the interior just makes it seem even smaller inside.

I have samples from PlasTeak, and they are like regular solid vinyl flooring, so it should be tougher than what you have.
