I am trying to run a wire down the mast to connect anchor light and spreader light. I have tried many times to lower a line down the mast entering at the opening at the cruising light thru the hole in the mast to the deck.
There just does not seem to be any room to run the wire.
Any suggestions?

I am going to raise my mainsail and then attach a wire to the mainsail halyard where it enters the mast then lower the mainsail and hope to recover it at the steaming light is located.

Did this last year. There are small/long fish tapes. I couldn't find at Home Depot etc. Ordered online. Will look at make/model tonight. I used lube for pulling lines (from Home Depot). There was one point right at about the spreaders where it took several times of pushing/prodding to get it through. Pulled a complete new harness for the mast/running/steaming lights. THAT SAID... with all the manufacturing and variations over the years your mileage may vary.

And be sure to tape the fish tape/wire joint up so that it has a smooth edge that will slip over/around/past/through obstacles.

Stupid me, I didn't pull a new VHF antenna cable because I was sure it was the connectors. So... have another pull I will have to do.
