I saw this ad by chance on facebook marketplace. It looks like it's symmetrical, and the ad claims the sail is "like new." The seller says it comes with a "sail bag," but the photo shows what appears to be a spinnaker sock. If it's truly like new, $300. is a great deal, and, if it includes a sock, it's a steal.

[Just click on the underlined text. The link messed up the format, but I think I fixed it.]

What was I thinking? My bad! My brain was thinking inches.

I'm easily confused when it comes to numbers and decimals, but isn't 0.25 of a foot (or 1/4th of a foot) 3"?

Under the C25 racing rules, the tall and standard rig boats can use different size spinnakers. Here are the applicable rules:

(1) Luff - The length of the luffs shall be taken as the distance between the highest point of the sail [i.e. at the head of the sail] and the foot [i.e. at the clew] measured around the edge of the luff. The dimension shall not exceed: Tall Rig - 31' 1"; Standard Rig - 29' 3 1/2". [parentheses are mine]

(2) Girth - The maximum shall be measured across the widest point of the sail between points equidistant from the head. The dimension shall not exceed 18' 10 3/4".

This spinnaker appears to be appropriate for a standard rig C25, but small for a tall rig.

Tall rig C25 "I" = 31', you say Capri 25 "I" = 30.75. Difference is 0.25" not 3". If a Capri spinnaker, it should fit a tall rig C25 easily. I don't know the answer to this, but do the the class rules for C25 and C25T allow for different spinnaker sizes?

Don't know, but the mainsail luff of a C25 Tall rig is 1' longer than a Capri 25 mainsail luff. If it will fit a Capri 25, it should also fit a Catalina 25 T.

The Standard rig "I" is 29'. The Tall rig "I" is 31.' The "I" dimension for a Capri 25 is 30.75 (3" shorter than the Catalina 25 T). The last I checked, at least some sailmakers were making tall and standard rig spinnakers the same size.

A prospective buyer should check whether it will fit their tall or standard rig boat. Someone here probably knows for sure.
