Old Bombay II - Instruments

I wanted to mount my instruments on the cabin bulkhead so the eye line would be good, but I don’t like to see the back side of the instruments from in the cabin.

I accomplished both with a simple teak cover. To mount the instruments I used a hole saw and cut through the bulkhead into the head. There is an inside and outside shell in that area. The space between the shells is large enough to run all the wires to the instruments. The a head light is mounted on an access panel and by removing that panel it was “relatively” simple to rout the wires and attach the instruments.

To cover the hole I got a teak panel (it is a step or door front or something) from the boat store, varnished it and screwed it over the holes. From the inside of the head it look like a nice trim piece.

If I ever have problems with the instruments, four screws give me instant access.
