Good evening,
I mounted a 30w solar panel this afternoon off the starboard catbird lower rail. I ran the wiring through the stern lamp. Now it looks like the panel is blocking the stern light.

I search the forum but didn't see much on panel locations. I wanted to keep the panel away from the swim ladder with kids and it leaves space for my Honda 8hp. I could lower the panel below the stern light but it would get wet alot. No bimini

Anyone moved the sternlight to the catbird rail, went with a wet panel or any other advice?

I guess this is an option..

"Sailboats less than 20m (65.7') can substitute a tricolor light for separate sidelights and stern light—or a bi-color light and a stern light may be substituted."

You only need a solar panel in daytime and you only need running lights at night. Perhaps you can modify the mount for the solar panel so that you can easily swing it up enough to expose the stern light.

Thanks Steve,

I can get it to swing further to the starboard side toward the cleat. I will try to see if I can find some quick release hose clamps to simplify this.
