Actually, I suggested unthickened--to permeate the wood somewhat, particularly on the bottom. The penetrating type (extra-thin) is also an idea, again especially on the end-grain, although I would add a coat of regular epoxy to add more of an exterior barrier. All of this might be overkill with pressure-treated fir.
