since my macgregor friend jumped aboard my boat, my fuel locker lid gives a little. The side and top bends away from each other. Has anyone else had this issue? is there a way to reinforce?

If you lock the barrel hasp, it holds the lid in alignment all the way around and spreads the load, so it doesn't give so readily. That might help, if you aren't already doing it.

Yep, I know what you are talking about. What has happened is that the fiberglass has cracked in the upper forward corner and now the bottom edge of the door slips of the little ledge that it sits on. I tried re-fiberglassing but it would break as soon as someone put there weight on it even with the hasp closed. The hasp has to much play in it to help hold it in place once it is cracked. My fix was to refiberglass the corner and then I added a strip of cutting board along the bottom ledge that is about 1/4" higher than the ledge creating a space for the door to drop into and not be able to slide off. It is now solid as a rock.
