Took a lot of work but were no longer Red were green and Now officially the Gal-Way
Only need to do the official ceremony and put on bottom paint.
I used Boat Graphics USA decals for name and shamrock as well as the silhouette of my girls. Made from a photo shopped photo.
The wood was redone with a Sedona oak tint and spar urethane. I know but I don't want to do it every year. Lets see how it lasts. Next up on blocks to do bottom paint and check swing keel cable then the water ! Its a long haul but looking better.
I used some boat cleaner wax and a final coat of airplane and marine wax. nice finish. Not perfect but clean.
Wow! First class! But I'm confused... NJ or VA? Your boat says one, and your signature and profile say another.

Your exterior wood looks really good! What kind of shape was it in when you started?
It was pretty bad, very weathered. In fact some boards were split and I replaced them. Not sure I used the best wood. I replaced both companion way slides. I had some 5/4 rough cut cherry wood and cut and routed them to match shape. then Sealed them in the spar Urethane. I used Helmsman Minwax. Well see how it holds up. I started refinishing the wood on the boat but read a bunch of posts and then pull all the wood and redid it inside. I did one piece one way and that was enough to convince me the lazy way was harder.
The wax was Collinite 925 Fiber glass boat wax, For marine and aeronautical use. I used that after the 3 M cleaner wax.

You are very observant, like most sailors. I did the hard part was moved the boat and renamed it. I have left only to change the signature. This actually was not so easy but I did it. Thanks for reminding me.
It's nice to be called a sailor--something I had more of a claim to for the early 55 years or so of my life. Nice reflections on the topsides, by the way...

I use Minwax Helmsman Urethane on my tiller handle. Every year I sand it down and clean the wood. Unfortunately the coating sometimes cracks and I'll get black marks on the wood. I wish there was a better way. Varnish is nice but it cracks too. Maybe clear coat Cetol??
I took all the exterior teak off my Cat 22 , had it walnut blasted , then 5 coats of Cetol marine natura ,looked pretty good and apparently you just need to coat it once a year on the boat after that , sold it before the first year was up but it still looked like it was just done after 8 months .
