Hello - I have a 77 C25 swing keel, dinette model that doesn't have a true bilge. Has anyone come up with a good location for a bilge pump? I have one under the rear dinette seat but am looking for a better option as there is an inch or 2 between the hull and liner.
Here's some more info about why I'm asking.. I pulled my boat out of storage a week ago and it had a fair amount of water in it from not being covered and the snow melting so I vacuumed all the water out from between the hull and liner and left the boat sit for a week, it didn't rain and the boat stayed dry. I put the boat in the water last Saturday and it's been raining pretty much non-stop since and I once again have water between the hull and liner. The boat is kept in the water about 100 miles from my home so I'm looking for a better bilge pump option to cover me while I figure out the leak. I'm thinking the leak is coming from the anchor locker due to the amount of water getting in.
Generally the intake is at the lowest point in the bilge. The floors on the C-25 (the athwartship stiffeners like fore and aft stringers in the bilge) do not have limber holes to allow water to flow from one section to another, so you can only empty the bilge to the tops of the floors at their lowest points. The final answer is that putting it somewhere low and accessible is about all you can do. Where RickR put his meets the criteria.
