Some time in the past I read where the Catalina Direct water fill deck fitting cover was defective. I found that mine leaked with a recent new cover. I ordered a SS fill fitting from Defender. It is for a 1 1/2 inch hose and the hose in my boat is 1". The fitting was also to long to fit properly. I cut about an inch off the SS fitting and built an adapter fromjavascript:openWindowHelp('pop_help.asp?mode=post#mode') fittings I got at ACE Hardware. Had to machine the adapter to fit. When I removed the existing fitting I found that the hole in the deck was too big. The deck hole was 2 1/4" . I made a wood filler ring and installed it with epoxy. I built a plastic ring to cover the deck the same size as the old fitting. The plastic ring is fastened to the filler fitting with epoxy. All is installed with sealant.

Life is not a dress rehearsal. You will not get another chance.
Wow, elegant solution for what I would have erroneously thought to be a straightforward job. I should have learned along time ago that no project on a boat is straightforward.
