We must have gotten a bad roll of blue painters tape. We used it when we were sealing our teak toe rails and the tape came of in shards. It left blue sticky shreds everywhere. We tried Goo Gone and Goof Off and neither worked. Scrubby pads didn't either.

Does anyone have a recommendation for removing these awful blue sticky spots without harming the gel coat?

Pressure washer..... does double duty at checking the integrity of the seals on your deck hardware and portlights as well. be careful though, it will get under your sliding hatch no matter what you do.

Perhaps someone returned a really old roll of tape.

I used to think products like Goof-Off, paint thinner and mineral spirits were nearly identical . . .

I would carefully remove the paper portion of the tape with a single edge razor blade first of course.

Don't use a pressure washer around your teak.

Plastic putty knives or plastic razor blades are safer to use. They don't hold up long. but they're cheap and can't gouge.

Just a note for all. Painters tape turns to concrete when it gets wet. And it gets worse the longer it stays on and more times the dew settles on it.
