I had never thought about a single verb to describe whether a bridge was open irrespective of the traffic type (road or marine). I haven't been able to come up with a good example (and neither has anyone else so far).
I'll suggest that if there were, it would lead to chaos. And that's why we have sentences, and dialogs, based on context. (I.e., are you a car, boat, or train?)
But let me also suggest that a moveable bridge is either "open" or "closed", and that the context is based on the purpose of it being moveable, which is for marine traffic. Thus, CLOSING a bridge makes it closed to boats. If you're in a car and a sign says the drawbridge ahead is "open", you probably should not assume it's open for you to cross.
So there need to be only two verbs: open and close. And two corresponding adjectives, irrespective of whether you're on land or on the water.
Dave, could be my FireFox browser on my cheezy Win 8 Toshiba laptop, but your signature images appear to be missing. Could your shutterfly acct be out?

They seem to be OK here? Of course the favorite thing a tester likes to hear from a developer is "it works on my box".
I've been noticing sporadic behavior--sometimes one (the newest) shows and the others don't. Those are thumbnails that Shutterfly doesn't even offer URLs to now. My days might be numbered.
