I ordered a Simrad TP22 and it arrived yesterday. I hope to bring the boat home next week and start the installation. I plan to install it on the port side to keep it out of the way of the starboard cockpit seat storage box lid. Do any of you have any suggestions or advise on the installation.
Thanks

Life is not a dress rehearsal. You will not get another chance.
I mounted my TP22 on the port side, mainly because I did not want it to be in the way of the outboard. But I guess you don't have that problem.....
I installed it many years ago, but seem to remember I modified the mounting bracket somewhat. I installed the electrical connection in the port coaming. Here is a photo of the bracket:
I installed mine last year. I also have an inboard diesel and wanted it on port side so I can sit to starboard and reach throttle and shifter etc. I put the brass cup on the coaming aft of the engine controls. I put a simple stainless plug inside the port coaming box. I will try to get some pictures next time I'm at the boat next week.
