Good morning all,
I have a Trail-Rite trailer. I use it to launch the boat in the Spring and haul it out in the Fall. I was wondering what should be the correct tire pressure. It is currently at 20psi which is most likely too low. I do not seem to be able to locate the maximum tire pressure indicated on the side of the tire.Thank you for your help.

My '95 Trail-Rite trailer says 35 PSI. The tire pressure is on the VIN plate.

My tires are new in 2019 and have a max load and pressure at 50psi. I run them at 40 and make sure to check the grease in the bearings before trailering. 2004 boat and trailer.

You have to remember that the max load and tire pressure that is on the tire is what the tire is rated for, not what is specified for the trailer.

Exactly. The ST205/75R14 tires on my Trail Rite are rated for a max of 1780lbs each @ max 50PSI (which is where I keep them).

I concur with the article and generally watch the tire wear on my vehicle tires - outside vs. center wear. The trailer is a bit different animal as it spends most of its time stationary. Sedentary tires can develop flat spots and sidewall breakdown if underinflated - especially if loaded. In fact, the trailer tire life expectancy is ~5years due to the type of and lack of use. Bottom line for all of us is to be attentive, and use common sense.
