First race of first round robin yesterday in Auckland. Team UK beat team America by 1 min 20 secs. On those boats that is "an horizon job"

Yeah, I saw some of it last night. Sad our guys did so badly, but it is awesome to watch those boats. Too bad only 2-3 guys on each boat are actually sailing, the others are pedaling stationary bikes watching a small computer screen. How is that sailing? I'd rather we go back to boats in the water with spinnaker handling and more match racing tactics, maybe use TP 52's or the Volvo Ocean 65's.

David I agree with you that this isn't sailing! However we "have to dance with the one that brung us"
UK won its 2nd race today against Italy and its 3rd against the US by 4mins 59 secs.
I'd love to see them go back to the old 12 meters when skill and tactics prevailed.

Here’s a particularly good analysis on the sailing and sail trim, and how the crew are learning to tweak out every 10th of a knot from the equipment.

https://youtu.be/AmiuzDxqhkg

The U.K. crew have been kicking some butt and the video explains at least part of why they’ve been successful so far.

Now the Magic team can make a video on how to keep one of these from sinking.
