Ok I just figured out this year long mystery, lets see if anyone else can. With your knowledge of C25s , the info I give you should be enough.
For a while now I have been hearing an almost constant clicking which sounds like it was/is coming from the bottom of the boat from the aft port quarter. I had envisioned something like a fishing bobber trailing on a line behind the keel. When I hauled out this winter I found nothing. Last week I was sailing in mild chop and the clicking came back. It then occurred to me what it was. Its an 87 wing keel c25. I have given you everything you need to know to solve the mystery. If you have additional questions, I will answer them. The first person to correctly answer will win the accolades of the entire site.
Ok I'm ruling out anything on the exterior hull because there is no moving parts on a wing keel hull. This leaves something interior. Port side has the dumpster and fuel locker. Ruling out something you have in the dumpster rolling around leaves possibly something that has come loose. Maybe the hose for the bilge pump?

I'll also rule out anything to do with the rudder ( mid ship) or anything to do with a gas tank ( not installed by Catalina) Also rule out the swim ladder, cleat, railing and backstay mount that are all to high up. You said bottom of the boat, aft port quarter. I'll also rule out the transom inspection board at the back of the quarter berth ( mid ship)

Where did he say it was a Catalina item? He just gave you more information than you needed.

well i was thinking that one would know that the gas tank is located in the aft port quarter with all our great knowledge of the boat. The protest committee will hear your protest however. Did you present your protest flag? did you hail the other boat? :)
I read this too late and now the mystery is over. In any case, the two things that make click type noises on my boat are : The gas tank float and sometimes the block on the jib/genoa track.
