Hey all,
Looking to get into the Catalina club by way of a 25. I have a Glastron Spirit 6.5 now but I sure would like a little headroom thanks for all the great info!

Lets try it again without the ooops

Welcome Richard! I infer that you're in the market... For maximum headroom (as C-25s go), look for a 1989-91 vintage--that's the last version, taking advantage of the elimination of the swing keel option by lowering and flattening the cabin sole. In all prior versions, the headroom was such that I, at about 5'9", had to bow my head just a little to move around. Of course, with the pop-top up (a load, and not to be left up under way), the salon headroom is huge--like your Glastron I'm guessing. There's a gas strut kit from Catalina Direct that greatly helps in raising and lowering the heavy pop-top and making it a little less dangerous.

I'm not sure how the C-250 compares to the C-25 for headroom except that its wing keel version has considerably more than its water ballast (centerboard) version.

Let us know how your quest develops, and no questions are "dumb" questions here!

Hi Richard, And welcome. That line comes from the movie Independence Day and was said by Jeff Goldbloom. Best of luck with your search.

Is this boat
SR FK in NJ still available? Not sure where Richard M aka Tack-Ho resides. Craig’s list and sailingtexas are good sources of C25s

AZ. He just missed Gary Norgan's '89 TR/WK in San Diego.

Hi,

I am in the Kansas City Area and one of our club members is looking to sell their Catalina 25. I am not sure they have it listed yet or how much the are asking. They are brothers that own their own boat repair business and their boat is setup for racing and sails very nice. If interested I can get you in contact with them.
