Entered my first race in this boat in October and there is 3 phrf ratings listed for our boat and am wondering which is mine . There Catalina 25 fk,ib,and tm . I'm assuming fk is fin keel what's swing keel ?
Angus, Both the swing and fixed keels rate the same in both tall and short rig configurations. The reason is that the swing is faster to weather and tacks quicker but the fixed is faster off the wind (generally speaking). On Canyon Lake (listed in the official handbook as PHRF of the Alamo) the tall mast rated 223 and the short 228. We did not have a rating for the inboard (IB).
