After dropping the mast for the first time in my ownership of the boat, I figured out why nothing bad has happened yet.

They were covered in 3" of dirt and almost were swept away.

There's a tradition of placing coins under the mainmast for good luck.

Both of these had a sailboat on one side. One was Bahamian and the other British.

Throw it in the radar housing, or epoxy it to the outside of the housing base?

I have a 1980 U.S. Quarter I place under the mast each year I rig my 1980 boat for "luck". Have always used a coin from the year the boat was built (1965 Corinthian/1964 Electra/1967 Renegade/1980C-25)
