I have a Lifesling already. I believe it is easier to deploy than a life ring mainly regarding the storage of the connecting line. One drawback with the lifesling is that after several years or so, the original bag it comes in significantly deteriorates, mainly on the cover, due to UV/environmental exposure. They sell replacement bags but they expensive. They also sell the bag in optional matls, sunbrella or totally in plastic. These options are even more expensive. What I found that can extend life of the original bag is to attach with grommets Sunbrella matl to just the cover of the bag. That will easily extend the life of the bag for addl years.
I learned years ago I could preserve bungees with ordinary SPF-30 sunscreen. I just bought this Lifesling today--it's in a white vinyl case. I probably won't have it in full sun all day--I don't have a stern-rail--but maybe I'll spray the case (for posterity).

You can sometimes find new Lifesling Covers on Amazon or E-bay or even WM at big savings. Ten years ago I bought three on-line for $25.00/ea. Regarding the OP -- That price is outstanding.

Since I don't have a stern-rail, I have my new Lifesling 2 stored under the deck on the "south" side deck surrounding my cockpit, where it will be shaded 90% of the time. It may never go into the water, but I'm happy to be a little better prepared to help somebody in the water without having to maneuver within my propeller's reach, which is considerable. (Old mariner's saying: "The water just wants to kill you.")
