The District 1 US Power and Sail Squadron (CT, Springfield MA and Westerly RI) is planning its 2017 Mini-Cruise to Milford Harbor on Friday August 11 through Sunday. The Milford Squadron will be hosting the event and will be welcoming the members at 6:00pm Friday with pizza & beer. All boaters are welcome.
The harbor is very walkable with over a dozen restaurants within 1/2 mile (many closer). There are ice cream and confectionery shops, delis, gift and specialty shops as well as the Public Library and the historical society. There's usually a free concert just across the river at the band shell every Friday night.
We will be meeting up at Milford's Lisman Landing, 37 Helwig St, Milford at the head of the harbor. Located at N 41° 13.2' x W 073° 03.3', find Charles Island R"16" and sail 005°M from there.
If you're interested in joining for one or two nights, please contact the Landing at (203) 874-1610 for reservations.
For more information, please see www.usps.org/ d1/events.htm and see the August calendar or email me.
Did that used to be Milford Landing? We spent a night there on our delivery cruise from Mystic to Darien back in 2000--nice area.

Yes. Milford has spent the last 20 years or so consciously improving this part of the harbor and surrounding town area. The area used to be the wastewater management system (aka cesspool) and an ash dump to fill in the swamp. Now it's a sports field complex, a picnic area, a barbeque area, a marina building with showers and lockers, a 36 slip transient marina, three trailer boat ramps, a dinghy dock and a band shell. You can search YouTube for the "Boating New England" episode on Milford Harbor (featuring Vessel Passage) and the surrounding attractions. Milford BNE I've lived in the area over 40 years and it's truly a Renaissance.
