I had my aft lowers cut 1" longer than the forwards when I replaced my standing rigging a couple of years ago to give me a little more flexibility in mast bend. I didn't mark them when I took them off last year, duh. I also didn't think about it when I rigged Pearl last week, another duh. I spent the day lugging the winch, A-frame and other paraphernalia from truck to boat, lowering the mast, switching port shrouds, raising the mast, and lugging everything back to the truck. Wasted a perfect fishing day!

I hope someone can appreciate this:

Having this boat has caused me to deliberately drink MUCH LESS so that I can remember my mistakes.

Lastly, I enjoy the quote: "A mistake is proof that someone stopped talking long enough to do something."

If I keep up these one thought posts, I could reach Admiral, or write a childrens' book!

I figured I would respond to your one liners to offer you encouragement to keep posting them. How about some that have a nautical theme. Maybe if they are good enough, we can put them on a plaque and hang them in the cabin.

But we need some new ones - Not the type like - The best days of owning a boat are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

Thanks Larry, but I think that ship has sailed.
