Seems that lately there has been a plethora of C25s moving into Milford Harbor. A guy who had an old-old C25 hull from 1978 sold it to a guy who loves fixer-uppers. He found a mid-1985 C25 in pretty good shape who's hull number is about 10 older than Passage and another one called Grateful Alive that goes out on occasion. I saw another one yesterday that looked to be about the same vintage as mine. They were sailing on the same heading under main and 135 Genoa, so I was surprised to see that she fell behind me. Of course with 12kts of wind I hardened the sheets all the way and moved the mainsheet car all the way to windward. I was hard over on 15-20° of heel, so 5.2kts felt incredibly fast. Of course I regularly go faster than that on my bicycle, but whatev it was awesome!!!!

With all of the C25s on our lake (and an increasing number of C250s) I sometimes wonder why I am the only one on the ZeeMap . . .

The ZeeMap hasn't been discussed for a while--there might be some new owners who would like to know about it and how to get onto it. (See "Map Your Boat" in the Association Business forum.)

I too see C25's while sailing -- more than I thought existed on Western Long Island Sound ad regrettably more often than not without sail numbers! As far as the fixer uppers: looking at some upcoming projects I have wondered if swapping hulls might be cheaper than fixing mine . . . . .

You know, fall is an excellent time to trade up to a newer boat (like 85-89 C25).
People who currently have a C25 are looking to move up to say a C30 don't want to pay for storing two boats over the winter.
If you call around to the marinas in Norwalk, Black Rock, Johnson's creek, Stratford, Milford, New Haven and Branford, you're likely to find one or two nicely kept Catalinas for sale. I wouldn't waste time on the Gold Coast since they'd likely want top dollar.
You can also check marinas in Port Jeff, Mattituck and a few other marinas going east on Long Island's North Shore. I know there a few C25s on Bantam Lake in Litchfield and Morris too.
Craigslist New Haven, Fairfield and Suffolk might be good to check. Brewers has a lot of marinas - try them in Stratford, Branford, Westbrook, Saybrook...
Or you could visit this weekend's Newport Boat Show. I'm going for my yearly fantasy fest.
And I would offer your current hull for sale. One of the fixer upper boats in Milford is a 78 hull with a mast held up by some chewing gum and twine. Somebody's got some big plans for that one someday...

Bruce -- Thankfully my projects are not structural, just those convenience ones that still define B.O.A.T. I too am looking at possibly moving up to a C30. I'm getting a bit too old to hang over the transom dealing with the engine and slightly wider decks also would be nice. And yes, I do not want to pay the gold coast premium. This time of the year is the dreaming period. Between boat shows and thinking of winter projects the mind does wander!
