A buddy of mine was looking at a C22 to buy. This was under the starboard settee. Anybody know what it is? I presume its not a urinal....

Yea really, What is that? It appears to be molded into the liner and not added by anybody.

That is the drain funnel for the sink in the optional pull-out galley. The galley unit, which contains a sink, cooler, drawer, and platform for a 2-burner stove, slides up under the starboard cockpit bench. you probably also noticed a long groove in the seat behind that funnel. The slide-out galley unit has a narrow beam screwed to the bottom to ride in that groove,keeping the galley unit centered as you slide it in and out. Connected to the sink drain is a tube that empties liquid into that funnel. The funnel is also connected to the 1/2" drain tube that also empties water from the cockpit at the forward drains. There are 2 seacocks, okay that are really faucet cut-offs, in that 1/2" tubing. One isolates the galley drain funnel, and that one should ALWAYS be closed unless you are at anchor or in a slip and using the galley. The other cut-off closes the cockpit drains. that one should ALWAYS be left open.
BTW, I'm impressed at how clean that funnel is. That boat may never have had the galley, or if it did, the PO's never used the sink for other than dry storage.
since I started racing my C-22, the galley unit has been consigned to the storage shed, along with most of the cabin cushions (after the class rules changed to allow removing them.)

And I thought I wasn't going to learn something new today...But I like the urinal idea. You could really have some fun showing it to your female guests and telling them that's where they have to go...Then wait for the reaction..
