quote: And if you feel up to it, explain to me how to just copy and post photos in so you don't have to use a link.
When making a post, click the 11th button from the left in the Format row (located above the white box where you type your post). A set of brackets will appear in your post. Paste the link to your photo in between the brackets. To get the link directly to the image, after you upload it to Photobucket, go to the picture on Photobucket, right-click on it, and select something like "Open image in new window". Then you copy the URL from the address bar. I'm on a Mac. On a PC there's a similar choice when you right-click, but I can't remember exactly what it is.
This is the result:
I think if you join the Association, there's a way to upload pictures to this website, but I have not tried that yet.
This is what you are looking for If your browser is Chrome right click on the photo and select Copy image URL If your browser is IE right click on the photo and select Properties, Select all, Copy. Its not put there by Catalina...Hmmm..Push it and see if the stewardess comes..
I suggest it is the switch for a 120v shore power system. Do you have a waterproof socket on the outside of the port coming and an Edison outlet in the cabin, or a 120v lighting system?

hahahahhaaaa GREAT POST!!!
Look inside the dumpster to see if you can find where the wire goes....AC disconnect is below that. we had a small pump hooked to a foot operated switch, for pressure water. Maybe a similar concept?
I have one like that for my horn. The rubber cover is primarily for an outdoor application. You can get buttons that either toggle on or off with each push, or go on when you push it and off when you release (like mine). Do you feel a click when you push it? That would mean a toggle.
Okay. I am just going to dive in there and take a look. Will let you guys know what it is when I figure it out. But it looks like standard equipment for the year and model. All the answers are interesting. Please keep them coming. I should set up a contest for the right answer.
As my panel looks nothing like yours -- and yet is "Catalina" -- my suggestion would be to do some basic diagnosis (apply battery and see what dies) and if not, ask an electricty-savy friend to take a look. The "button" looks like a horn or emergency something -- but may have nothing to do with anything! Gotta love our aging vessels . . . . .
And the winner is... (drum roll) stinger missile launcher. (My boat is so cool.)
No. Actually Paul of BritinUSA pegged it. It does look to be a heavy duty bilge pump. And it works. Well it makes noise. I still need to test it. It also leads to a heavy duty pickup in the portside bilge compartment (why are there so many bilge compartments?) that looks to be just shy of 1 inch in diameter. Could have used it this weekend when I ran aground and, after pushing the the boat off, thought I was taking on water. I Wasn't. I had rinsed the boat off that morning, and I think some water got in the bilge. Check it today, it is mostly dry.
I will have other contests in the future. Like why do I have a fan switch but no fan? I tell you, the Cat 25 owner's manual really doesn't cover a lot.
