I was wondering if anyone can help me with the length and diameter of the early C 25 standard rig forestay? It has a Selden 100 s furler. Another question is , where do the ball bearings fit into this furler. I have spent hours on line but so far have yet to see a diagram showing the placement of these ball bearings. When I got the boat the furler was in bits with the balls in a tin can!
If its a Selden Furlex 100s here is exploded diagram showing the balls, Now you can get your balls out of the can.http://www.seldenmast.com/files/595-103-E.pdf And here is the manual http://www.seldenmast.com/files/595-102-E.pdf The wire size is 3/16. Furlex uses a fixed length forstay that uses a wire terminal fitting that you have to attach to the wire. The drum then gets clamped to the terminal fitting. The turnbuckle is eliminated. For this reason I can't tell you the length of your forstay. I have a Furlex and when I replaced my forstay I ordered from CD a forstay for a tall rig without any fittings on the bottom of the wire. This gave me a forstay that was longer so I could cut it to the right length and attach the terminal fitting. I used my old forstay to determine the length of the new one. CD will deduct the cost of the swage and turnbuckle if you call them to order a tall rig forstay with the one side just bare wire.
