Something new (to me) seems to be happening--I find that I've made double-posts, and then delete one of them. I've also noticed I'm not the only one... It doesn't happen on each of my posts, but a lot of them recently. I'm trying to figure out the pattern that leads to it (or doesn't). Any thoughts?

(Let's see what happens here.)

Edit: Yup--here it is. See the previous page.

And your 2nd post is less than 1 minute later. And your first post did not get edited. Very strange. Anyone else?

My double post today was due to working on my tablet. I used the back button to get from one site to another and it arrived on the submit post page. So it was a user error at that point.

We have a flood control system in place to prevent someone posting too many times in short succession, but in this case (mine) I was beyond the flood time.

I edited the second one. Interestingly, the edit didn't double-post. I'll be watching what I've done when this happens again...

Some things that might be helpful to look for when you notice a double post to sort this out:
What device are you using to make the post(s) (PC, Mac, Android, iPad, smart phone, etc.)?
What browser are you using (IE, Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin, Opera, Sea Monkey, etc.)?
Do you get doubles when using a specific device, or does it seem to be device agnostic?
Same with browser.

OK, I think I've got it... Using Chrome under Windows 7, if I use the Back function and go through the page that says "Reply posted", my last reply gets re-posted as a duplicate (or I get the "flood control" message if it's very soon after my initial posting). I don't have to "Post" it--it just happens.

Yeah, mine started doing that a couple of weeks ago. Has only happened 3 or 4 times.

Has the map your boat feature worked in a while?

I don't see where I can add my own, and it doesn't show a lot of Capri 25s...

Looks as though we've got a wee bit of internation spam from what seems like an upstanding vendor of quality merchandise:

I just got a weird email from someone on this forum. The return email is john_wei11@yahoo.com

This is obviously SPAM (he claims to have a business proposition for me) or some kind of PHISHING attempt. Somehow, he got my email address so I've had to change it.

Just thought you might want to know.

The good news is it takes more effort to spam people by joining the forum than by most other methods... Addresses are still hidden.

I've noticed a dramatic reduction (almost absence) in spam-posters on the forums... (Knocking on wood!) Paul, did you come up with a barrier--for example, blocking IP addresses in Africa?

Dave,

We really got hit by Spammers in Dec, Jan, and Feb.
Yes, there have been several attempts to implement security barriers.
Each time one is implemented, it will work for awhile, then a new group shows up.

Since this is a public forum and anyone can read the replies, we don't discuss the details of the security barriers.

Thanks, Russ

Of course. I'll just thank everyone for their efforts, and point out, when I can, their successes (even if temporary).

I just tried to use the Search function under the Association Forum header, and it took me to the list of forums rather than the search form. Bad link...
