Did you also see the flourescent "Post-it" arrows on the chart. (See photo with close-up of dowel.) They are a great way of showing the position of the next anchorage when cruising.
This is really nice. Simple and neat. I have one question .. I'm guessing the dowel keeps it from moving side ways but what keeps it from sliding a little forward out from under the block and everything ending up on the cushion. Maybe another dowel in the back that hooks over the rail would prevent this?

I initially thought that the dowel would have to fit in a small hole to prevent sliding, or I would need a cleat at the rear, but tests indicated that this was unnecessary. That said, drilling a small hole or adding a cleat are exactly difficult to do!
I think that the length of the dowel is critical in the stability issue. Too long, and the friction against the little block/ shelf rail (fiddle something???) is reduced and it might slide. It does work without the dowel but the leverage on the shelf rail is much greater.

I am not sure where the dowel is. Could you point it out? Great idea. Thanks</font id="navy"></font id="size2"></font id="Comic Sans MS">
