If the weather cooperates, we plan to attend. Perhaps others from here plan to attend as well. We could get together and capture a group selfy with Frank Butler!
Nope, but I just might make the Newport show next Thursday. Basically everything at the Newport show turns into the Annapolis shows two and three weeks later. (They have to give the sailboats an extra week to get down there. )

For a number of years I have wanted to attend the Annapolis show. For some reason my industry insists on holding "events" on the west coast just before or after so it makes it impossible to attend. Even when my son was in school a few short miles away it did not work. Would love to meet Frank Butler, as well as the Good Old Boat folks and see some of the boat lines that seem to focus only on the "big" shows. Looking at my work trajectory, maybe in 2023!!!!! But, if you do take selfie, do share!!

I'll be there. Might work the Good Old Boat stand for free tix, we'll see. We're going to be getting back from Oktoberfest in Munchen so hopefully I have the energy.

I probably will be going again this year but not sure which day - Saturday or Sunday. I am always interested to see the various accessories besides the new boats. This year, I am considering replacing all inside and outside cushions and so maybe there will be a few booths to stop by to discuss options. There are a few potential suppliers/upholsterers closer to me but Annapolis has loads of boats in the harbor and that breeds a lot of very experienced service companies to also consider.
Of those considering going to the show, any potential things you considering buying ? As a minimum to consider, the Good Old Boat Magazine booth always has nice baseball style caps for sale. I will be wearing mine.
Here's a little wrap-up from the Newport Boat Show last week. Most of these boats are on their way to Annapolis, with some powerboats stopping off at Norwalk, CT this weekend. (There's never hardly any "sail" at that show--maybe one Bendy-Toy.)

I always wanted to go but I can never get myself to give up one of the few weekends left to the sailing season. I wish they would have the show in the beginning of November.

OJ, I did a search in the archives and you posted Annapolis Boat Show 2011 photos. The photo withi the guy wearing the Good Old Boat baseball cap looks somewhat similar to me but not me. But I do have a blue cap. I also have the new two tone cap.
Right now, Sunday seems like the best day for me to attend.
Has anybody ever been to the show on a Monday? Are all the boats still there? Are the exhibitors worn out? Is that day just for dealers to try to close deals?
From what I hear it's a pretty complicated job taking all the floating docks apart and moving the boats out after the show so the representatives get started on doing that right away once the show is done.
The outer docks first then progressively closer in. So you can assume the reps will be busy moving things out.
That said, no sales person I know would EVER turn away a motivated customer - especially one with cash - who wanted to make an end-of-season purchase. Contact them before the start of the show and see what they advise.
The sailboat show is from Oct. 6-10. The Powerboat show is from Oct. 13-16. They will move out the sailboats quickly, and move in the powerboats. I'm sure that some of the vendors, like West Marine, will occupy the same booth space for both shows. IIRC, I was there once on the last day of the sailboat show, and some of the vendors in the booths began packing up before the show closed.
Some of the best sale items are sold by then. Nevertheless, if Monday is the only day you can attend, get there early.

Or cancelled, This hurricanes projected course has shifted to the west now. Coming right up the coast.
My C&C is being hauled tomorrow morning. The Cal will stay in the water, but the canvas is stripped off her, and someone will be adjusting her docklines. This one has the potential to be bad.

I will be at the show with a friend as it opens up at 10am on Sunday morning. The hurricane is supposedly not coming our way. Saturday it will supposedly be raining from a front coming in from the North but Sunday is expected to be a good/great day. By the way, I have been to the sailboat Show on days when it rains and nothing keeps sailors away from the show. I recall a few years ago when my spouse came with me, while we were driving to the show it was raining cats and dogs and she thought it was crazy for us to make the drive and doubtful if many would also be there. But those sailors were all there with their ponchos and rain gear on and it was crowded ! So, those going on Saturday and if it is raining, expect the crowds to be there !
It appears to be turning into pretty nice weekend for at least the sail portion of the show . . . . but next week is up for grabs as we all await Matthew's progress

A Sail mag review. Amusing! Note the Gerry Douglas piece, and the oversized electric flare. (I want one--just a little smaller, and a different gender... )

I just learned that West Marine didn't have a booth at the Annapolis Sailboat Show. I thought I had overlooked it somehow, but they weren't there at all. Interesting!

I just looked at the lists for the big Newport and smaller Norwalk shows, and WM wasn't at them either. Maybe they figure, for the cost of doing it, they just take sales away from their stores somewhere.
