So, I am staying on the boat solo tonight and decided to do a check of all lighting.
Noticed the bow nav light, which has always worked, failed. Bulb was loose and worked reliably once pushed fully back into it's socket.
However, I noticed the joint between the steel backing plate/mount and the pulpit seems to have suffered significant fatigue and seems to be barely holding on. I say that because it flexed FAR too easily. I plan on adding a zip tie tomorrow morning to better support the fixture and wiring, but suggestions long-term? Needs a new weld?
Thanks in advance. :)
Btw, great sailing today! Covered 16 miles averaging 5.5 mph with all being upwind or down. Top speed 8. :). Dreamy day with wind, 1 foot rollers and bald eagles. Living it. Loving it. Can't wait for tomorrow. :)
Ah hah! Both good ideas. The clamp-on mount is pricey, so I will first attempt the JB Weld. Especially given that there is still some original weld there.
