Very cool! Wish I had Sarge down in Darien this weekend!
The last whale I knew of in LIS was a Beluga that liked to swim alongside sailboats, including one belonging to a friend of mine. Then somebody apparently decided it would be fun to shoot it.

Seems that there have been sightings all over LI Sound this year. You can almost walk on the bunker bait fish they're so dense. Our Dept of Envir Prot said that we should give marine mammals a lot of leeway. They prefer sailboats to power - likely due to the sounds they produce. I'm still on the lookout but they were spotted several weeks ago in Milford Harbor. I'll be out in Port Jeff on Sunday - I hope to see them! Best I can do is watch the YouTube videos.
I hope s/he is OK--I have to believe s/he made a wrong turn into The Race and ran into a virtual dead-end in L.I.S., where Hempstead is close to the end. They are not familiar with this place as they are, for example, with the Gulf of California in Mexico. I have a bad feeling about this one...
