Dose anyone knows whot coud happen,my vectran line is loose, centerboard is down, can not raise it up.Catalina1999 hull362,is in the water. How to get the boat on trailer.Thanks.
Depending where you are, replacing the cable while the boat is afloat is far more economical and easy to do if a diver is available.
Once the boat is on the trailer, you'll need to lift the boat to have access to the center board up-haul connection. It is much simpler to prepare the cable and fish the cable up with a small wire and connect it to the up-haul tackle while the boat is in the water...
If however, you wish to trailer the boat before fixing the mechanism, try placing a line below the hull and around the centerboard aft from port to starboard and pull it up as best you can. We were unsuccessful but some say it can be done...

Best bet is to bite the bullet and sail the boat to where there is a sling. Replacement is easy at that point. If that's not possible, two guys dragging a line over the keel from fore to aft should be able to raise the board at least halfway...then attach the ends of your line to your winches and crank it up tight enough to get her on the trailer.
Silly question but did you check to make sure everything is connected properly under the companion way? Last time I launched, the cable connection to the line that comes out into the cockpit came loose. When I was backing off the trailer, the CB lowered and got caught between the trailer cross members. After winching the boat back onto the trailer, the CB lifted back up. I re-attached the cable and everything was good to go. I don't like the bolt on connector so I need a more permanent solution.
