I have an inboard diesel that gets water in the bilge. If the stuffing box does not have a drip less bearing system the stuffing box has to drip to keep the bearing cool while shaft is turning. It should drip about three to four drops a minute while shaft is turning. With shaft stopped it should not drip.

This boat is a dry boat. Hewebb, You should have your stuffing box looked at by a pro

There are dripless stuffing box systems. I suspect that yours is one of them. Mine is not one of them. See this info.
