Probably old news to most, but a bit of a surprise to me, to learn that Catalina Yachts acquired True North, the builder of "down east" style power boats. They are moving production to the Largo facility. Will be interesting to see how this all comes together. It did not take long for the "Morgan" name to get dropped when Catalina bought them years ago.

True North will add volume to the Largo facility. The question is, over time, will power beat out sail. Catalina is moving from its base of solid boats of small to mid size. Most new have been larger. power will help, but may tempt them to expand further past the small to mid size range. No right or wrong, just interesting to see which course they take, especially now that Frank has passed.

Morgan was a long-faded brand, and IMHO added little to nothing as an adjective to the Catalina brand, except suggesting "slower". Hinckley added powerboats to their line (Picnic Boat and Talaria), and I'm sure sell many more now than they do their sailing yachts. Cape Dory tried it before its time, with less success... Beneteau is all over it... Could this be Catalina's plan? If so, I don't see the Catalina name enhancing the presence in the power market--that middle market isn't as brand-conscious as the super-high end. But it'll be interesting--the pendulum could swing--fractional-MPG carbon-based cruising might lose its cachet...
